It is situated in the medieval city (La Cite), just under the towering walls of the Cite Medievale (a World Heritage site) and 15 minutes from Airport. It is a typical French town in a street of terraces. There are cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. There is also free local transport between La Cite, nearby, and Bastide St Louis during the main tourist season.

There are daily flights by Ryanair from Stansted, UK to Montpelier; also from Brussels to Carcassonne. In addition, there are flights by British European, British Airways and Air to Toulouse and Montpellier from London Heathrow and Regional Airports such as Birmingham.

Traveling

If you walk all the way around the lake (in about an hour) you'll discover a wide variety of landscapes and environmental conditions, from freshness to aridity, from woods to wastelands, from shadow to full light. You'll notice this region's three dominating hues: blue, green and ochre. In the middle of the lake, you'll see a bird's island used for the nesting of ducks and other aquatic species.
