France vacation and holiday rentals - We are sure that you have heard of Carcassonne. It is a town of about 45,000 inhabitants in the Region of Languedoc Roussillon, on the River Aude and Canal du Midi. The Bastide (later town) is only 12 minutes walk over the old bridge where there are many restaurants, shops and a market 3 times a week.

The house has tiled floors throughout and is furnished in French style. Electric convector heaters provide warmth in the cooler months. Parking is available “on street” outside of the house.

	The polished wooden staircase leads to two double bedrooms. The main bedroom overlooks the street and the room at the rear looks out onto the walls of the medieval city.

Our house, for four persons, is situated in the medieval city (La Cite), just under the towering walls of the Cite Medievale (a World Heritage site) and 15 minutes from Carcassonne Airport. It is a typical French town house in a street of terraced houses. There are cafes, restaurants and shops nearby.

Discover the Lac de la Cavayère!
Description Born of the ashes of a 1985 fire that devastated the sector, the lake of la Cavayère is a splendid retaining reservoir of 1.5 million cubic metres covering a surface area of 18 hectares.
If you walk all the way around the lake (in about an hour) you'll discover a wide variety of landscapes and environmental conditions, from freshness to aridity, from woods to wastelands, from shadow to full light. You'll notice this region's three dominating hues: blue, green and ochre. In the middle of the lake, you'll see a bird's island used for the nesting of ducks and other aquatic species.

The lake of la Cavayère is not just for taking a stroll. It is also a health resort, an amusement park, a place where adults and children can have fun, a special place where you can relax within a stone's throw from Carcassonne.
With its picnic areas (with barbecue), children's games, water sports, sandy beaches and grassy edges, fishing, and the ideal place for walking, this lake is a true haven of peace, freshness and delight.
Swimming: • Only in life-guard supervised areas delimited by buoys between 12:30 and 7 pm.
